SOUTHWEST HALLOWEEN PAINTING VIDEO TUTORIAL

I lived in the desert Southwest for many years. During that time, I came to love the desert and surrounding hills. Fall was a very special time of year, because temperatures cooled, and being outside was a joy.

I created this painting for a class I taught. I love to get it out for fall and Halloween each year.

SUPPLIES

Free Southwest Halloween Painting Pattern - print, then enlarge, shrink or crop to your liking

Gesso (optional - if you would like your canvas to be smoother, or you feel it needs more gesso)

canvas of your choice - panel or gallery wrap (any size you wish)

acrylic paints (I use Grumbacher, Golden, Liquitex, Artist Masters - any good quality artist paint will work well)
choose colors you like: I used the following:

Prussion blue, cerulean blue, quinacridone magenta, burnt sienna, burnt umber, payne’s gray, warm gray, light blue, deep violet, raw sienna, oranges and yellows, titanium white, black, hooker’s green, green-gold (by Golden).

NOTE: I used many colors because I had them. You can start with a small amount of primary and basic colors, and mix - or use the colors of your choice.
