Winter - the perfect time to learn new sewing skills

As I went on my walk this morning in my favorite nature park, I thought about winter and all the ways we can be productive during the season. Learning new sewing skills came to mind. I once taught sewing classes, and many of my projects were designed to teach specific skills.

As I walked along, I decided to put together a post about our most popular easy sewing patterns. If you are just beginning your sewing journey, go through these projects in the order listed. Master each new skill before moving onto the next project.

I recommend to all who are just entering the wonderful world of sewing to take on one new skill at a time. Don’t start a project that requires buttonholes and zippers if you have not yet mastered straight seams, for example. If you take on too much, you can quickly become overwhelmed and decide that sewing is not fun. That would be a tragedy! Sewing should be practical, easy, challenging - and always fun.
